I have never been so surprised in my life. After all, he and I went over the bill line by line and neither of us caught the math error. I would have never known, and Grieff's could have had a windfall.
Long story shorter: when I got the car back, it was perfect. We sat down and went over the bill, which was a bit more than I'd hoped, but I was a satisfied customer, so I gave him my credit card, signed, and left. The next evening, I was watching the Final 4 at a friend's house and got a call on my cell. Now, this was about 8 o'clock on a Saturday night, mind you. It was Jeff, calling to tell me that he was going over his weekly invoices, and had discovered that he'd double charged me for labor, and did I want a check or a credit on my card for the $600+ he said he owed me!
I've lived all over the country, and I can say unequivocally that this is the best auto repair shop I've ever done business with. I've got a nearly mint '98 BMW 328is that needed a clutch. I was going to take it to the Quad Cities or Peoria to have the work done, but friends insisted I at least see what the Grieff brothers had to say. I stopped by and meet with Jeff and explained what I wanted (note: I used to do all the work myself, but I'm 65 now, and finally learned how to delegate). He took all the information and told me he'd get back to me in 2 days (normally next day, but I came in just before 5). So, he looked at his computerized service manuals to learn about the specifics of the job, any special BMW tools required (there are always one of two needed for major BMW surgery) and the flat rate breakdown. He wrote 2 very extensive quotes, one with OEM parts, one with aftermarket parts, both worst case scenarios. I felt good about the guy and his process, so I dropped the car off the day before I went out of town for a week.
If I could give them 10 stars, I would.
Bottom line : You can trust these guys. If they can't do it and do it well, they'll probably turn you away. If they do the work on your vehicle, it'll be done right and you'll be charged fairly. When's the last time you heard that about any other auto repair shop?
A very nice gentleman helped us today. Had car issues on the interstate today. We were lucky enough to go here. He was able to repair it well enough to get us home safe. A very nice man.
